About the Teacher.......

I have a lifelong love of music, and it is my privilege to share that with others through private lessons.  Piano is my first instrument since the age of six.  I also have had experience throughout middle school, high school and college with playing mallet percussion, violin, handbells, vocal choirs, and in marching band color guard.   I bring this diversity of music experiences into lessons, recitals and workshops.  My goal is for students to enjoy differing activities with instruments, voice, movement and rhythm, and for all students to look forward to performing what they have learned for their families and friends.

I like to work with students in all age and ability levels.  I have previously taught elementary, middle school and high school students throughout my career as general music teacher.  The campuses where I taught were Harmony School of Innovation, Fort Worth, and Holy Cross Christian Academy.

These are subjects which I taught during that time:

  • High School AP Music Theory, Theory 1 and Choir 1--Grades 10-11

  • Middle School General Music, Choir 1, and Stomp Percussion --Grades 6-8

  • Elementary General Music-Grades 1-5

  • Resource Special Education-Middle School and High School individuals and small groups

  • Dyslexia Small Groups-4th-12th Grade small groups

  • After school Band Ensemble-Combined Middle School through High School

  • After school Show Choir-Combined Middle School through High School

  • After school UIL Music Memory (music history)-5th & 6th Grade

  • Music EC-12th

  • Special Education EC-12th

  • EC-4th Generalist

  • 4th-8th Generalist

  • Gifted and Talented

  • English as a Second Language

As a hobby, I enjoy working with nursery and elementary children, and singing and playing keyboards with the worship band at Trademark Church in Fort Worth.  I have also previously helped to direct children's choirs and musicals and taught Sunday School at Trademark.

I realize that each individual has different goals and styles they would like to focus on in their piano playing, whether they plan to play for enjoyment, perform in contests, play for a band, for a recital, for a church, write songs or whatever it may be.  Through the lessons, I will enable students to apply fundamental skills that are learned during lessons and then expand upon that to meet their unique goals and individual styles.  It is my hope to have all of my students come away feeling encouraged, safe, happy, knowledgeable and fulfilled in their musical abilities, so that they will have a lifelong love of playing piano, too!
